There are different hiking/excursion opportunities. On one of these hikes we take you for a tropical experience via a side that run parallel with the main up trail. This trail that takes you up the hill, through a gut under the canopy of the trees and under a pagoda that was build and which houses over 100 orchids of different varieties, up to base camp. Base camp area was created in the middle of the hill, and is our relaxing area, where tents can be erected on 3 platforms. From here this side trail continues up to the Dam. This Dam was built in 1980 in order to capture water coming down this gut, to irrigate crops grown then. Here, customers can step up on large rock to take pictures of some spectacular views.
Whether here for the day or for the week this is a must experience hike. Hike to the top of the hill and view both sides of the island at the same time. Exercise, nature and views await. In our shortest hike, this trail will be enhanced by installing a mist system along the trail in the canopy of the trees. This will create a micro climate within a climate and will dramatically enhance the vegetation in this area. This particular hike will take about one hour.
This amazing hike takes to past the hilltop and a hike through the inner island of Sint Maarten. We will hike past the base camp and beautiful micro climate and further on up to the dam, this side of the trail continues up to the crest of the hill where will cross over the Slave Wall, where there is much history to learn about the beginning of the island of Sint Maarten St.Marten, Dutchside/Frendside history. This trail will continue over to the hill to Columbier. Looking down into the amazing view of the local town and ocean show the splendor of our island.
In the 3 hours plus hike we travel past Columbier onto the highest point of the island Pic Paradise. This hike can take between three to four hours. There are going to be some short trails that take you to some point where some attraction is created, a waterfall, or a fish pond or an area highlighted by orchids and bromeliads.
On coming down the trail hikers will not go through the side trail, but come all the way down on the main trail. This will expose them to a different scenery and picture opportunities.
